Since its start, its ingathering has been astronomical, having generated revenues of over $24 billion in 2009 and currently employing over 23,000 people (Bloomberg, 2009). It is a market share leader in almost every non-domestic market. Google has also horizontally integrated into the engine room industry as it aims to expand its portfolio into other sectors having acquired YouTube and having recently highly-developed its own mobile phone operating system know as the Android. The mission statement to organize the worlds learning and make it universally accessible and useful has certainly not been underplayed and continues to be the modus operandi of Google. Peoples Republic of mainland China has an preservation expanding at a tremendous rate having recently surpassed japan as the second spaciousgest economy in the world. With a gross domestic product of $4.909 trillion and an estimated population of 1.3 billion people it is too big of a market for any multinational corporation to ignore, Google was no exception.

In 2008, China already had nearly 300 one million million million internet users (CIA The World Factbook, 2009) and is currently the worlds biggest internet market, it was clearly an attractive market for Google to invest. On the other hand, Chinas communist government posed threats to Googles philosophy of dont be evil, which in itself created a moral dilemma of whether they should stay or abandon an extremely important and strategic market.
