The Matrix is a complicated film that addresses philosophic theories, along with the question of reality. Reality in The Matrix is a very fluid concept since both the matrix and the 2199 introduction are real, depending on where you are. The Matrix also references theories and stories from philosophers including David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Socrates. There was a scene that compared Kants and Humes theories on self, between neo and nil.
