The disclosure of a physicians discipline is misleading to say the least. The information for sale to the average consumer is not enough or unceasingly appropriate to make an informed decision regarding a health occupy provider or treatment plan. Basic demographic information is a small portion of the information available to consumers. Although consumers are becoming more than educated and aware of their health apprehension options than their parents or grandparents were, not all of the information available is needs accurate to the average consumer. For example, an oncologist treating patients with end-stage cancer would have a probative higher rate of mortality among his patients than a podiatrist trimming the toenails of patients.
Measuring performance in health care is repugn in terms of identifying measures that truly reflect the quality of care individuals receive. It is also difficult to make comparisons across plans or providers that calculate for differences in the patients whom they treat that can affect health care outcomes. Measuring the performance of physician groups and individual physicians is even more difficult. Individual physicians or groups perform a wide conformation of assistants and typically perform every individual service for a small number of patients. Only a division of these services can be clearly linked to a measurable outcome. To make meaningful comparisons among physicians, analysts must adjust any measure selected to take into consideration the extent to which a distinction like the severity of a medical condition affects the outcomes from care.
