Another reason Jesus may have been sentenced to death is because now Jewish leaders had some power to protect their people from the molestation of the Roman patricians and high officials. The high officials would have had Jesus crucified to reestablish law and order to the Empire.
After Jesus’ death, his disciples began teaching all people could achieve salvation, the forgiveness of sins; and the promise of everlasting life if you convert to Christianity. This was a radical nub that journeyed across the Roman Empire, mainly reaching and affecting the poor.
